I'm going to make this short and sweet.  My objective is to get you moving.  So, here goes.

If you were to wake up tomorrow morning and read the above to-do list, how would it make you feel?  Would it start your day off on a positive note?  I mean c'mon, we all want to watch our dreams die, right? Wrong!

We all want to soar higher than the heavens.  We all want to make an impact.  We all want to reach our health and fitness goals.  We all want the body that makes the heads roll.  Yeahhhhhhhh, you know what I'm talking about :)   But are we willing to do what it takes?

I'm not going to make this a long blog post on why and how you should write your goals out.  I'm sure you probably have heard and read about that already.  Instead, I would rather just instigate your heart to take action.

So, I'm just going to leave you with this thought.  Do you see the above to-do list?  Well, if you don't make your OWN list of goals for tomorrow, consider the one above YOURS.  Why? Because statistics state that if you're one of those who refuses to write down your goals, you will probably never fully reach any of them.  Heck, why not take the one above.  Settle for nothing or even less than that and be satisfied with it.  The to-do list above is yours if you keep refusing to do what it takes to get it done.  Tomorrow skip your workout.  Tomorrow, get fat.  Tomorrow watch your dreams die!  Or...maybe not.

Instead, begin to make those goals reality.  First, see them.  Write them out.  Keep them short and concise.  Share them with others.  Tell me about them.  I want to hear what they are.  Go get them.  Is that your pen I hear scribbling?

I had just written my to do list before I read your blog and 'Go to the Gym' was the first thing on it...along with Get Groceries :) Writing out your goals everyday seems to be one of the best ways to stay consistent...at least it is for me :)

This is so true. So many days I just think about what I am going to do and plan to write them down later. Then life happens it is the end of the week and I am wondering where did I go wrong? I didn't write it down! Writing it out is the first big step, also a tip that has worked well in the past. Think through the next step for each item, and make a note of that, i.e. "Go to the gym (get gym bag, protein and log book ready)". It re-enforces my commitment and makes me feel like have already started the task so now need to finish it.

Harsh, but OH SO true! I have gotten to the point of writing them down, but need to actually LOOK at them! :p

Yup Blondell, harsh no doubt. That was my objective. This is one of those things that if you can push out of your comfort zone and implement, your life changes immediately.

My list for today (wrote last night): Weights: Chest & Back, Cardio: Stairmaster (20 min) (it's only my 3rd time doing the stairmaster but I SWEAT); Exchange running shoes (causing blister at ankle); Afternoon hike; & Tony - close your eyes- Pinot Noir from Oregon (I only drink alcohol once a week-1/2 a glass of wine). So my list is not perfect but it's the truth. Tomorrows list will not have wine on it :)

I had to laugh because I thought yea eat some junk and no workout and just have a sleep in day. However Get Fat and watch my dreams die is NOT what I plan to do with my life. My goals for Tomorrow are: 1. do a better workout then today, (even though today's was awesome!) to lift heavier to run faster and just do the very best I can. 2. continue eating healthy I am on track and on a roll. 3. make my dream board 4. consentrate on the total picture, I have a birthday party and a christening this weekend, cake and ice cream will be everywhere but I will not crave it when I see it because I will picture my dream board and work for the future. Every thing I put in my mouth this weekend can spoil all I worked for all week.

Pablo and Bev, I agree! Linda, good going! I just finished my grilled chicken with brown rice and broccoli. I had my mind so prepped for it all day long that NOTHING else would have satisfied. It's ALL in the MIND!

I am lost if I don't write my day out on flashcards. I carry them everywhere with me. First one on the pile is always my workout card that I write out the night before. Then when I go to bed, I am visualizing my workout... in order. Watching myself on the treadmill then over to the weights, and feeling how good it is to feel my muscles working. Feeling how full of energy I am. Then visualizing my meals for the next day and how they will be prepared. I would be lost without flashcards/planning/and visualization.

This is something that hit me so hard today, when I was walking in to the gym for my workout. I realized that my whole life, I've lived accidentally. Meaning, I've lived the 'default' goals in life, I've coasted, survived, sometimes even enjoying that. But lately, since I met you Tony, I've been living with INTENTION! I get to CREATE my life, day by day, moment by moment. This is about so much more than achieving a beautiful body.... it's about creating a beautiful life, and harnessing my beautiful mind!

Cami, you hit the nail on the head for so many others. I hope that your words encourage them to move out of that place of "default". Awesome words. Thanks for sharing :)

The act of list making helps me identify my problems. My list today started with eat clean. As I expanded the list I realized I've been spending more time at home, and thus I don't pack as many meals. Sure I've got most of the components pre-portioned in the freezer, but the whole meals aren't packed, and labeled as to when I'm going to eat them. I've been going to the kitchen and amassing a meal from whatever I see in the fridge at that moment when I am starving, and thus the meals are larger and more frequent. When I've been successful, meals are thought out, packaged in full, and eaten when planned. If I'm to spend more time at home, these meals need to be ready to go, and I need to know when to eat them. A list goes a long way!

Dear Cami, your words speak volumes,it is very easy to do what others expect...get lost in my childrens and families lives, until you wake up and say what about me?. I've realized that it is not selfish..to put myself first..and i'm not just talking gym time.If im not happy and healthy, mind, body and soul-then what am i teaching my children. You only get one chance on this planet..i want to live it...not exist in it!

Wow. That hit home hard...and hurt. I have notebook next to bed. Why do I not use it? I should be jotting down something daily to keep it front and center of my consciousness.

Michael, fantastic comments. Some of what you stated is exactly why this is so important on a small and larger scale too. Thanks!

Donna, I could not agree more and your words touched my heart. You WILL live in THIS world at YOUR BEST :)

Rhoni, I really want to thank you for sharing what you did. I think this can be tough on most of us. Yet, the cost of not doing it means not living fully. Thanks so much for sharing and stay close and in touch. I hope that notebook gets used well :) Always here to help.

Wow, such wonderful posts to this amazing blog post Tony!!! I'm going to copy down these blogs and posts and re-read them, they are so very helpful and give great ideas! If we don't write our goals/to do's down, we don't know where we are headed in life (aim for nothing and reach it every time!).I'm so very excited about my goals which are seen in the daily tasks I accomplish! Thanks for a great blog post everyone!
