The ups and downs of weight loss and body transformation can be brutal.  Well, it can be brutal if you continue to do the same things over and over again.   And, sadly, MOST just keep doing the same things over and over again expecting different results.

I'm not referring to doing the same nutritional things over and over again.   I'm not referring to doing the same exercises and workouts over and over again.  No, I'm talking about doing the same self-sabotaging mental suicide on your goals and dreams over and over again in your head and heart.  Are you guilty of this?

Let me ask you a few questions and then let you determine if you have this problem.

1.  Do you look at pictures or the success of others and think to yourself, "I can't look like that because..." ?

2.  Do you look in the mirror and see yourself differently than others see you?

3.  Do you hear about how others eat healthy and say to yourself, "I can't eat that way, it will not work for me because..." ?

4.  Have you started weight loss programs only to do great in the beginning but then FAIL the longer you went on?

If you answered yes to most or any of these questions, I would strongly argue that your problem is mental first and foremost, before it is due to your program or diet.

Are you aware that you construct mental images in your mind all of the time--consciously and subconsciously?

In other words, all day long--without always realizing it--you are seeing images and thoughts which are affecting your life in either a positive or negative way.

Unfortunately, almost all studies reveal that MOST thoughts on a daily basis are of a negative persuasion and they are repeated daily over and over again.

Basically, you are thinking about the same negative things today that you dwelled upon yesterday and they are causing you to stay in the same failures over and over again.

Do you want to stop this madness?

The first and most important way to change yourself and to be successful in your body transformation program is to begin to practice "positive" mental imagery.  I would argue that it is mandatory or you will NEVER achieve the success you truly want.

Mental Pictures have the Power to Change your Life

Whether or not you like it, your subconscious mind is accepting the negative images as REAL!  Then, as a result, you live your life based on the negative realities.  Yes, you keep making the same mistakes over and over again because you believe the LIES that your mind (and maybe even your heart) have been wrongly feeding you for months or even years.

If you choose to constantly repeat positive mental images in your mind, you can massively change your body, health and life.  The more you visualize the body and health you want, the more you will be drawn to do those things that will bring it about.  This is based on the science of your mind, not some kind of new age philosophy.

Mental Pictures Should Create a Powerful Mind Movie

It's not enough to just think of one or two positive images.  Your life is made of many parts and they are all related to one degree or another.  So then, when you think of your dream body, you should also see yourself eating the healthy foods and you should see images of the workouts that will recreate the body you long for and want.  This will tie together your mind and emotions in very powerful ways, which will lead to definitive, positive behavior changes.

Using Mental Pictures for Great Success

If you want to start using mental pictures and visualization to bring about the incredible body that you want, then you need to start by becoming aware of your daily thoughts.  Be on guard against the negative thoughts and images and replace them with positive ones.

Do not worry about whether or not you truly "believe" in the new positive imagery, just SEE it and ACCEPT it as yours!  Do not set limits.  Visualize what you really and truly desire, and what will make you happy and satisfied.  If you mind tells you something that is the opposite, disregard it as false and focus on the positive.

Practicing these techniques will change not only your body, but your life.  I have been teaching for years that it is imperative to change the way you think, or you will NEVER truly change the way you look--inside and out!

What's your thoughts?  Feel free to share them and know that I'm always here to help in any way that I can

Tony this post made me cry just with the picture that you used. I have been obese my entire life. I would hide in my bedroom with bags of chips and cookies and look into the mirror and just cry night and day. I know I have no one to blame but myself but still here I am with the same problem now for 37 years. I'm ready to make a change. I want your help. I will contact you. Thank you Tony.

What you say is true. I know because I lived it for a while. Your own self perception can be your own reality. Good post. Thanks.

I most certainly relate to this as I grew up with my mother telling me that fat people have no business dressing well. Fat people don't deserve to look pretty. Since I grew up overweight, I have spent my life looking in the mirror seeing someone that doesn't deserve to wear nice clothes or even attempt to look pretty. It's a pretty vicious cycle that I will probably spend the rest of my life trying to overcome. Thankfully Tony is there to help!

Jaemi, I have endured the same in my life. My mother and father would both ridicule me. The way they would punish me was to deny me dinner and tell me I was too fat to eat. I broke the cycle and left the extra 150 lbs in my past a year ago. I'm never looking back. Good luck with yours and thank you for sharing. Your words brought back memories and made me cry.
